Re: Village tackles youth problems
This is the concept of self sufficiency and responsibility that should be encouraged throughout the whole of Samoa.
This has been a way of communal life in Samoa in the past, and must be revived and supported by the government.
Instead of placing customary lands of families at risk of being exploited by a few and foreign banking institutions, the political will to financially support youth and village development through structures like these would have been far more beneficial.
I say, self sufficiency and self responsibility over neo-liberal economy development, at local and national level, would work towards eradicating real poverty in families across the board.
