S.I.F.A has a new C.E.O

The Samoa International Finance Authority (S.I.F.A) has a new Chief Executive Office. She is Tootooleaava Dr. Fanaafi Aiono-Le Tagaloa, who takes over from the late Alosamoa Erna Vaai.

The confirmation came from Cabinet yesterday. The vacancy was advertised for public interest and nine candidates submitted applications.  An assessment was conducted by a panel and five candidates were called in for the interview stage.

After the interviewing process and assessment, a recommendation was submitted to Cabinet for the final decision.

Tootooleaava holds a PhD in Law, a B.A. Honours in History and LLB Honours from Otago University. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Samoan Language from Le Iunivesite o le Amosa o Savavau, amongst other academic qualifications.

She was the Deputy Registrar of International and Foreign Companies and a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Samoa and High Court of New Zealand.  Tootooleaava started her education in Samoa before proceeding for further studies in New Zealand.

Tootooleaava previously held the post of Manager for the Legal and Registration section and was a Legal Consultant for the Samoa International Finance Authority, since January 2014.

From 2010 to 2013, she was the Sector Coordinator for the Samoa Law and Justice Sector Secretariat and had also worked for the Amosa o Savavau University. Tootooleaava had worked in the University of Otago in the Faculty of Law and Pacific Island Centre and also has a background in the media industry. 

The new S.I.F.A Chief Executive hails from the villages of Fasitoo-uta; Sili ma Gautavai; Salani; Sapapalii; Lotofaga; Taga; Lepea; Fogapoa; Saoluafata; Salesatele; Manunu; Afega; Malie; Faala-Palauli; Salelologa; Safotu; Falealupo; Fagatogo; Iliili; Manua; Manono; Falelatai; Ulutogia; Lalomanu; Falefa; Lefaga; Vaimoso; Apia; Laulii; Fagalii; Amaile; Tuanai; Faleula; Mauga-tui-o- Faleata; Saleufi ma Alafua.

Tootooleaava also holds the chiefly title of Aiono Suamamataia from Fasitoo uta and belongs to the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa at Fasitoo Uta.
