The World Symposium on Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Strategies in Coastal Communities was officially closed last Friday.

The three-day event was held at the Tanoa Tusitala from the 5th-7th, which saw many participants from 19 countries of the Pacific and around the world, come together to address the issues.

According to the Adventist Disaster Relief Agency (A.D.R.A.’s) Country Manager, Su’a Julia Wallwork who was the host of the event and the Co-Chair of the Symposium, the event has been a huge success.

“This has been a great opportunity from the A.D.R.A.’s perspective that the experts from around the world have come to Samoa to share their experiences and knowledge and to join us in making national plans to address climate change especially for  the coastal communities,” she said.

“We are happy to have participants from around the Pacific who all face the same challenges as us and we all have the same resources so it’s been good to share with them and know that we are not alone in this challenge of impact from climate change.

“The reason why I had asked for this symposium to be held here is because we are proud of our country and we want the rest of the world to hear and see Samoa and especially to experience our climate, culture, scenery and our people”

Here are a selection of photos from the event:
