The youth is important.

In terms of setting development goals, they should be a priority within families, villages, churches and nations.

That is the belief of 20-yea- old Viliamu Viliamu from the village of Leauva’a.

“At the moment, I think the only sector prioritizing in terms of involvement is the church,” Viliamu tells the Village Voice.

“For me I believe that’s the most effective way because the church has so much power in changing and developing the lives of many.

“Youth is the future of our families and the future of our country and they need to be taught well because who else can our future generation look up to?

“I mean it is true that it is within families where our life begins but within our church communities, that’s where we learn our ethics and the right kind of behaviour through advises from our church ministers.

“For my experience as a youth, most of us are always looking forward to what lies ahead with fear because honestly at the moment, what we are witnessing with the situations happening to some of our people; I cannot help but think that church ministers are the ones we can turn to for help in this kind of situation; which is true because I’ve seen and know many that have gone to church ministers for help.

“That’s why I encourage all the youth of today to always make time for God, to help out with our church obligations because this is the road to a successful, respectable and a safer life.

“The advises we get from our church ministers, the work that we are being told to do helps a lot in the development of our characters in a way that it can shape the people we can become in the future.

“I know this life is going a little bit too fast for all of us but I advise families to work together with the church so that the spiritual life of your children can be better when they get to their youth.”
