The driver of a pick up truck had a lucky escape yesterday after the Holden vehicle he was driving veered off the road and crashed into the village pool at Tufuiopa.

According to an eyewitness, Jadyn Ualesi, the person who drove the car was test-driving the vehicle.

“The vehicle was speeding,” she told the Samoa Observer yesterday.

“It came down from where Island Rock Company is and it couldn’t stop on time to slow down at the curve and it went straight in the pool.

“The thing is, the vehicle is serviced and I think the guy who was behind the wheel took it to test drive the car.”

Ms. Ualesi said the driver was not hurt.

“Once the car was in the pool, the driver came out right away,” she said.

“He walked up to his dad’s friend’s house next to the pool.”

It‘s not the first this has happened at the same pool at Tufuiopa.

“As a matter of fact, this is the third time this has happened where cars crashed inside this pool.

“Lucky the driver was not hurt, but the luckiest part is that nobody was in the pool.

“This pool is usually full of young kids and people nearby who come and take a swim and it would have been a disaster if there were people in the pool.”

It was not possible to get a comment from the Police yesterday.
