Maryanne Agalelei Tuika Kalolo and Vite Gary Kalolo were partners for the bride and grooms line in 2017.

Five months after meeting they officially started dating, and a year later got engaged, and were married yesterday in a solemn ceremony at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple at Pesega.

Speaking to the Samoa Observer at the wedding reception at Maliu Mai, the couple said they met over a year after Vite returned to Samoa from Ghana in Africa, where he was on mission.

“We were both in a wedding party line and we just happened to be partners,” Mrs. Kalolo said, and added that she was looking forward to the big day to celebrate with loved ones.

The bride is the daughter of Lusa Moli Segi and late Agalelei Tuika and Vite is the son of Solialii Savaii and the late Vite Kalolo.

Mrs. Kalolo’s only wish was for both their dads to be present for the momentous occasion.

“It is a very special day for us both. I am really excited because this has been one of my goals since I was young — getting married in the temple. And we would have loved for both our fathers to be here with us now,” she said, with tears in her eyes.

Nevertheless, the newly-wedded couple are grateful for their loved ones and family friends coming forward to support them.

Speaking of the attributes of his wife, Mr. Kalolo said: “I knew she was the one, she held attributes and a personality that always made me smile. Everything about her made me want to put my best foot forward in work, my calling and just about everything. She was the kind of person that encouraged me to be better, do better. She impacts my life, I just knew.”

The couple said they were excited with the start of the new chapter in their lives.

“We have a lot planned together and I know and I am grateful to be the man at her side to accomplish it with her,” Mr. Kalolo added.
