A five-day training on Leadership and Motivation has inspired participants to go out and make a difference in their work places.

The training was conducted by the Samoa Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the National University of Samoa. It was delivered by John Ross, Director of Taking Action Pty in Australia.

This training is a result of a need identified by the Samoa Chamber of Commerce through their Training Needs Analysis for its members in terms of capacity building for their Human Resources.

The workshop was attended by 19 participants, all in managerial positions, who were committed to learn and implement effective skills in strong leadership and methods to motivate staff.

Feedback from participants indicated that the workshop was very helpful and informative for their line of work.

“After reflecting over past experiences what I learnt this week, I can now see areas I need to improve to become a better leader and to motivate my team,” said one of the participants.

“This workshop was a fruitful and refreshing experience and I am confident to develop further in my role as a manager.”

The training was made possible through funding under the Samoa In-country Training Programme housed with the Oloamanu Centre for Professional Development and Continuing Education (O.C.P.D.C.E) from the National University of Samoa.

The Chamber of Commerce will continue to implement more training for the private sector through the Samoa In-country Training Programme at the O.C.P.D.C.E – N.U.S.
