The hard working Coordinator of the 2018 LIFE Con Explosion, Kevin Schuster, is thrilled with the outcome of this year’s event.

Held two weekends ago, Mr. Schuster hailed the latest installment of LIFE Con as a huge success.

“The overall results of LIFE Con 2018 is obviously and undoubtedly a huge improvement from last year,” he told the Samoa Observer.

“This was the overarching theme for all the preparations this year given that last year was the inaugural Life-Con. So we learnt a lot of lessons and we made sure we do it right this time.

“We thank God that based on the feedback received; it certainly proved the achievement of this main objective.”

Mr. Schuster said the key is in the planning.

“The one thing that we credit is the planning - this year we devoted a good number of team members to plan,” he said.

Another key was to ensure quality, structured, professional marketing and advertising of the event, which emphasised the brands and businesses involved.

“Difficulties and challenges are inevitable and we went into the making of Life-Con with this mantra.”

But with anything in life, there are always hurdles to overcome.

“The only major challenge encountered was the different approaches and personalities by all the businesses we worked with,” he said.

“Mind you we were working with 27 businesses and we dealt with 27 bosses - so you can imagine the clash among bosses.”

He added that they have their way of doing things, but they also have theirs. But they persevered and stood in belief of their vision.

Additionally, perfecting the standard of the hair and make-up line, so it is in line with the original plans and share the limelight with hair and make-up artists as Life-Con stresses the significance of all businesses rather than just designers.

“Think Pink was an initiative launched last year as a result of our partnership with our charity organization, Samoa Cancer Society (S.C.S.).

“We made the decision earlier this year that Life-Con 2018 will again give to Samoa Cancer Society and also finalised that LIFE-Con charity will be reviewed every two years.”

All designers voluntarily prepared and designed a pink outfit to be showcased at Life-Con finale and will also go through auction. All proceeds go towards S.C.S. for their advocacy work.

Think Pink also paid tribute to Manamea Apelu-Schwalger, who was instrumental in the making of LIFE-Con 2017.

According to Mr. Shuster, there was also a Green line, which was a project between Life-Con and women in climate change.

Looking ahead, Mr. Schuster said LIFE-Con is a possible umbrella brand that can participate in international fashion shows with which some of our local designers can come under. He added that there are also overseas designers who have expressed interest in coming onboard.
