BETWEEN THE LINES

Nervous times

The development in Savai’i last week where two babies died after taking their vaccines will only deepen the public’s mistrust in the health system – when it comes to the issue of vaccines anyway.

Keep in mind that before this came about, there was already a growing number of people doubting the vaccines.

These people had been talking about the topic on social media for a while and some of their arguments against vaccination appeared quite convincing.

Now this week, they have just found new ammo.

Which means that whatever investigation Health comes up with, they will have a lot of work to do to earn people’s trust again.

Come to think of it, if you are a mother in Samoa today, would you risk taking your son/daughter for a vaccination?

No prices for guessing the answer to that question.

When it’s time to go home

In business, you do not turn away customers, right?

Wrong if you turn up at Frankie’s Hypermarket restaurant when the workers want to go home.

BTL reckons the hardworking Frankie Cai needs to know what these workers are doing, driving away business.

A man who was on the late night beat was pretty desperate for some fries when he lined up at the counter from 8.52pm on Monday.

At that point, the woman there looked like she didn’t want to serve anyone as they were nearing their 9pm closing time.

When the man finally reached the front at 8.55pm, the waiter didn’t want anything to do it.

“Sorry there are no fries,” she said, “we are closed.”

If only looks could kill.

It gets worse of course.

“But it’s only 8.55pm,” the man fired back, looking at his watch.

“No it’s 9pm and the till automatically shuts down,” she responded.

Really?

A till that automatically shuts down? Now that takes the cup.
