The academic year is almost at an end and schools are setting up classrooms for the Samoa School Certificate (S.S.C) and Senior Secondary Leaving Certificate (S.S.L.C)examinations, ready to begin this coming Monday.

This has to be one of the most trying times of the year for all students, particularly secondary schools because it’s the examination season.

Parents are doing what they can, to support their children’s studies and provide the emotional and spiritual care usually given in large doses at this time.

Well, we are sure that Samoa is one in wishing all its students a successful examination season.

With the National Primary Tests completed last month, there were 5,232 students that sat S.P.E.L.L 1 and 4,904 students who sat S.P.E.L.L 2.

Both these tests were given to Year 4 and Year 6 respectively.

At the final year of Primary, 4342 students sat the S.P.E.C.A, Year 8 Exams.

The Ministry of Education Sports and Culture is now working towards ensuring results are marked, checked and verified by the end of Term 4.

National Examinations for both Year 12 and Year 13 will commence on the 14th- 25th November.

More than 2,500 students will sit the S.S.C Examination, and close to 2,000 students will take the S.S.L.C Examination.

For Year 12, there are 17 examinable subjects and 18 subjects for Year 13. The latest examinable subject being added since 2015 is Development Studies.

Schedules for SSC and S.S.L.C have already been distributed to school Principals, and are also made available for the public on the M.E.S.C website.

MESC is trying very hard to ensure Provisional Results will be ready at the end of December.

With this in place, it will also mean that students’ recounts for subjects will close on January 06th 2017.
