Shipping services continue to close
Samoa Shipping Corporation continues to close its shipping services between Upolu and Savai’i due to rough seas and strong winds yesterday.
The services were halted on Monday by bad weather but reopened yesterday morning only to close later on in the day, the second time in a week for services between the two islands to be affected.
The SSC, in a post yesterday on their official Facebook page, warned that they will be forced to cancel services again if the weather conditions deteriorate.
“Our first priority is the well-being of passengers at heart, any situation to signal weather conditions worsening, we will close again.”
“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we do our best to assist as best we can, everyone of those stranded at the wharves, those stranded away from families overseas, work and families between the islands.”
“We are not running to schedule as we do our best to accommodate everyone as best as we can,” their Facebook post read.
The corporation warned the public to prepare for an abrupt cancellation, if forced by the weather.
“Keep in mind this is to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew as the weather conditions continue to be unpredictable.”
