Betrayal - (from Endless Circles)

By Jackie Fa’asisila 20 February 2017, 12:00AM

A pink envelope fell defiantly on the floor

Romantic verses, another woman’s hand

I choked on feelings of denial and pain;

struggled with doubt; self-esteem

Anger surges, despair emerges.

How could I go on?

I knew he still loved me,

but there was so much stress

Between us now

in his eyes, my voice, our bed

Too proud to shed incessant tears

Decry the hand of fate

I stood strong till death do us part

did not give in to hate

Death soon dealt a cruel hand

fa’ailo for them did toll

who was I to question

or ask the reason why?

Both their lives ended suddenly

far too young to die

Love and betrayal

burned forever in my soul.
