The book, which comprises 180 pages and five chapters, was put together by Dr. Md. Abdul Kader, Dr. Jagdish Bhati and Associate Professor Mohammed Umar.

Dr. Md. Abdul spoke about the significant role the book offers in terms of research in the study of agriculture.

“We have made an attempt to compile and synthesis all the information on evolution of teaching, research and their extension to the stakeholders by the U.S.P. Alafua Campus since the last 50 years in this book.”

He said the book highlights a pathway or direction in agriculture studies for future generations, so they will not make the same mistakes from the past or repeat it.

“Chapter two contains all the abstracts of PhD and MSc thesis researchers conducted here at School of Agriculture and Food Technology (S.A.F.T.) Two PhD and 51 Master’s students were graduated from S.A.F.T. since its establishment.”

“Chapter four enlists all the scientific articles published by the Journal of South Pacific Agriculture (J.O.S.P.A.) since 1992-2017 and Alafua Agriculture Bulletin. In total 373 scientific articles and extension notes were published in AAB.”

Span start publishing only extension news while J.O.S.P.A. publishing scientific articles. In total J.O.S.P.A. has already published 232 scientific articles until now.”

“At the last chapter we have made abridged version of some selected articles published in J.O.S.P.A. and A.A.B.,” Dr. Kader added.

“I hope our alumni, students; researchers will be benefited from this book, as they will easily get all the information in one book. That will help them to know easily what the past researchers have done and what left for them to do. Accordingly they will make their plan.”

The launching is part of the university’s 50 years celebration which is taking place this week.
