Local businesses need to be innovative

Dear Editor,

People moan about the “high cost of living.” Yet here are these Chinese shops which offer very low prices for normal everyday Samoans and people still moan that they are ‘running Samoan businesses out of town.’

Would people like Moe Lam Sam prefer that the prices of everyday products is expensive so she can have a good life?

Time for Samoan businesses to get real.

They need to innovate. Join up with other Samoan businesses, downsize, cut costs, do deals with their suppliers, be more efficient with their production, otherwise retire and get into another line of business.

That is how capitalism works.
