All Catholic Church-run schools in Upolu and Savai’i will commence their academic year on January 28.

This was confirmed by the director of Catholic Education, Father Mikaele Tuimavave.

“For Catholic schools, there are five colleges and one technical centre with eight primary schools and 12-13 pre-schools,” he said.

“School will officially start for 2019 on the 28th of January. But there will be an orientation for all the teachers and principals on the 21st of January.

“This is an important opportunity for all teachers and principals to gather and discuss plans for this academic year.

“But we will close of the week with an opening mass on the 26th of January to officially dedicate a service for God’s guidance and blessings for yet another year,” he said.

Father Mikaele said it is significant to have the church service so that God may protect every one throughout another year.
