Bluesky Super Nine tournament launched

The Samoa Rugby Union’s biggest domestic Rugby competition has been launched.

The Bluesky Super Nine Rugby Championships 2018 was was launched at the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel in Sogi.

The competition is an S.R.U. initiative to raise the level of its domestic competitions with a commercial mind set. 

This year, Bluesky Samoa has stepped up as the naming rights Sponsor.

The competition launch was blessed by Fr. Muliau Stowers with a short prayer, followed by official launch and key note address by Prime Minister and  Chairman of the Samoa Rugby Union, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi.

He highlighted the importance of having the right people to drive the development of the different franchises.

Chief Executive of the Bluesky Samoa, Alex Abraham, said Bluesky is delighted to help push the devlopment of domestic rugby.

They are proud and excited to be the naming rights sponsor of the 2018 Bluesky Super Nine Rugby Championships.

“Today, and the Super Nine Rugby Programme that Samoa Rugby Union has used to grow a strong platform to create an opportunity for grassroots Rugby, and we applaud S.R.U. for that.” 

“It brings back what we seen in the past where Rugby can develop.”

 “And tonight we are committed and proud to announce the Bluesky as the naming rights sponsors for the Bluesky Super Nine Rugby Championships.”

It was followed by the showcasing of the Bluesky Super Nine kit which will be used for this year’s competition.

The nine teams competing in the Bluesky Super Nine Rugby Champions including Vaimauga Eels, Faleata Knights, Tuamasaga Eagles, Safata & Lefaga Navigators, Siumu and Falealili Southern Tornadoes, Aana Chiefs, Aleipata & Anoamaa & Atua I Saute Legends, Itu o Asau, Itu Salega and Palauli Warriors and Itu o Tane, Faasaleleaga & Amoa Vikings.

The Bluesky Super Nine Rugby Championships is set to kick-off on April 21st, which will see the two finalists teams Aana Chiefs and Vaimauga Eels going head to head for Week One main match at the Apia Park Stadium.
