The Samoa Rugby Union and the Samoa Weightlifting Association have received handsome vital financial injections.  

Thanks to the Bank South Pacific (B.S.P) who has become a staple in the sporting community by  financially helping sporting organizations fulfil their duties to the country. 

At the Taumeasina Island Resort on Friday, top B.S.P. executives handed over a check for $20,000 to the Samoa Weightlifting Federation for 2017 and 2018.  

Manager Taituuga Maryann Lameko-Va’ai said they are delighted to be able to help the codes.

“We are happy to announce our partnership with the Samoa Weightlifting Federation for two years,” said Taituuga.  

“One of B.S.P’s core values is quality and I believe that the Weightlifting Federation portrays this value quite well. We note that they do not have many lifters but the “quality” of their lifters has put Samoa on the map. And it is this type of relentless efforts by these weight lifters and those who administer this organization has driven us to partner with the Federation for these two years.” 

B.S.P also presented the Chief Executive Officer of the S.R.U with a cheque of $30,000.

The money was raised through their innovative product, the Manu Samoa Visa Debit Card.  

 “Today is a testament to our commitment to the community not only in making banking easier but also to highlight the emphasis we put on helping our community to prosper,” said Taituuga. “As we all know us Samoans hold a great deal of national pride hence why the Manu Samoa Visa Debit Card was aligned with Samoa’s great rugby team.” 

Initially, $14,436 was raised through the promotion in which  of the 50% of the $70 annual fee with the Manu Samoa Debit card was allocated to the Manu Samoa.  The bank matched it “dollar for dollar” to reach the amount of $30,000. 

The money was gratefully accepted by the Chief Executive Officer, Faleomavaega Vincent Fepulea’i on behalf of the Samoa Rugby Union.
