“I could easily live here”

Samoa has had a nostalgic effect on Rebekah Hobson since she flew in from Brisbane, Australia.

They say time flies when you are having fun and, that is exactly how Rebekah felt when the Samoa Observer caught up with her.

She said it has been a memorable three days since she flew into Samoa with her husband and two daughters for a one-week vacation.

But she has been to Samoa before, thanks to her New Zealand-born husband who has Samoan heritage.

“We came here a couple of years ago and I just love it. I’d quite easily live here,” she said.

When asked what was it about Samoa that would continue to make her come back, Rebekah said it was the beauty of the island and its people.

“I just love that it’s Christian, it’s beautiful, the people are friendly, I love it.”

According to Rebekah, Samoa is so beautiful and relaxing, her family feels like they have already spent a couple of weeks on the island—despite arriving three days ago.

Samoans are devout Christians and their loyalty to their local churches can be seen through their fervent worship, and this was not lost on Rebekah, who recently had her own taste of worshipping the Samoan way.

She joined her husband and their two daughters for service at the Vailima Methodist Church.

“We went to church with my husband’s cousin and we loved it so much,” she said.

Another attraction while in Samoa is local delicacies, and Rebekah picked the fa’alifu taro as her favorite. They ate fa’alifu taro for two days, she added.

When this newspaper met the family they were already halfway into their one-week vacation. But their visit to Samoa was not the first and certainly will not be the last.

Their family is planning a reunion in two years and she will not miss the chance to return to Samoa.

“We were talking about coming back for our reunion and we just can’t wait to come back,” she added.
