For most young people, searching for a job can be a daunting task.

However, thanks to the Samoa National Youth Council (S.N.Y.C.),who joined forces with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry an Labour ( M.C.I.L.), the job search for unemployed youth just got a little easier.

Yesterday, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding to share job seeker information to better assist with youth employment in Samoa and formally join the two systems to create the Youth Employment Network.

Leaders of both the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour as well as members of the Samoa National Youth Council joined to celebrate the cooperation.

The M.O.U was signed by the C.E.O of M.C.I.L, Pulotu Lyndon Chu Ling and the President of S.N.Y.C, Vincent Fa’aofo.

The C.E.O of M.C.I.L was ecstatic to be partnering with S.N.Y.C.

“M.C.I.L is thrilled to be partnering with S.N.Y.C in what is a big development for youth job seeker services in Samoa,” he said.

“It is a privilege for M.C.I.L to work with an organization that has shared vision in improving youth employment across Samoa.”

Last year, S.Y.N.C, under the Youth Employment Network project, launched the e-Youth hub, a website that provides information and basic employment services as well as capacity building  training for young people of Samoa to have a successful transition into the labour force.

The e-Youth Hub utilizes technological advancements to create a more accessible and informative hub for young job seekers. The site is easily accessible and can be accessed on a smart phone or laptop.

Once registered, youth can access S.N.Y.C trainings and certification on good work ethics, soft skills needed in professional settings and overall capacity building and empowerment on leadership to increase employability.

S.Y.N.C’s program Coordinator, Taimalelagi Kaisarina Salesa said, “This is an exciting new development to assist Samoa’s youth in economically empowering themselves and we are thrilled to work in partnership with M.C.I.L to maximize employment opportunities and streamline employment processes.”

Youth from the age of 18-34 can access the e-Youth hub website at www.snyc.org.ws
