A Prayer group called Manuia Girls Club has donated $2,000 worth of food and clothes to the Samoa Prisons and Correction Services. The donation includes 10 Bibles and the promise of more assistance to come.

Manuia Girls Club was established in 2015 within the Samoa Stationery and Books (S.S.A.B.).

President of the Club, Nancy Vito, said the group meets every Monday morning for prayer meetings and bible studies.

“So we raise funds by selling boiled eggs inside the shop every day and that’s how we are able to raise funds,” Ms. Vito said. “This is the first time we have donated to a Charity and so we thought why not here at the prison.”

“Our mother Nino Lafaele Vito she’s the one who looks after this ministry every week and she always tells us that we have to give to the prisoners and that they are in need of this and that and so today we are here to give to our brothers and sisters who are here.”

Ms. Vito went on to say that it has been a blessing being able to give to the prisoners.

Fiti Lafaele – Leung Wai also made an announcement that they will be supporting the prisoner’s first CD to be launched next month.

“I have been blessed today and when Leulua’ialii Malama Fauoo told me that you guys needed a sponsor for your CD God immediately open up my heart to support this great cause,” she said.

“Another blessing is that by next year I am willing to open up a library to help you all, so that when you have nothing else to do at least there will be a place and books available for you to build your minds while you are serving time here.”

“These are the things that God has put in my mind to help you all but it has been a blessing coming over today and see you all.”

Manager of Custody Leulua’ialii Malama Fauoo acknowledged the support of the Manuia Girls Club as well as the President of S.S.A.B.

“Words cannot express how thankful we are for your support,” he said. “Who would have thought that you are thinking of us and I have to say that this is why this company is blessed because they always give to the community.”

“We have nothing to repay you except for our prayers that may God continue to bless you with everything.”
