Leifiifi College Head girl, Aniora Jasmine Fa’atoafe, is the dux of the school for 2018.

She received various prizes for the subjects and leadership in the school and came first in Year 13 for Biology, Science, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

Speaking to the Samoa Observer after the prize-presentation, she said persevering with the challenges that came with being the Head Girl of the school and the first valedictorian in her family was worth it.

“Although there were times students refused to listen, I am still grateful for the learning experience being a leader that has taught me how to work well with others and to also strive to become better,” she said.

She is the daughter of Nora Nofoaiga and Faatoafe Sooalo from the village of Samauga, Savai’i. They currently reside in Vaivase Uta.

Her mother Nora said that she was very happy with her daughter’s 2018 academic results.

“We have always told her that through God nothing is impossible and today she has testified to that.

“We are tremendously grateful for God in all things. Aniora has worked hard for her achievements and we know that she did not accomplish it alone,” Nora said.

Her father Fa’atoafe said Aniora is the first of her three siblings to become dux.

“Aniora has done us all very proud today. I am just very humbled because I know today was possible through God’s guidance.

Aniora will continue her education to university, where she will continue to have our support,” he added.

Aniora will study science next year at National University of Samoa and said she is grateful to God and family for their support.
