The descendants of the late Pata Sauni and his wife, Sileiloga Vui-Sauni, of Malie and Lano Savai’i, gathered in Samoa this week.

The three-day reunion which brought relatives from New Zealand, Australia, United States and American Samoa to Samoa ended with a thanksgiving service at Rita’s Lodge, Lotopa, yesterday. “This is our first reunion,” said Fa’amausili Tauvela Meaalofa Sauni.

“Our hope for this gathering is to reunite our families from all over the world so we can have the chance to get to know each other.” Fa’amausili said five generations of the family attended the reunion.

“It is has been such a great opportunity for us to bring together our children. The theme of our reunion is to live together in peace and harmony.

“The idea is that no matter where in the world they (our children) might end up, they will know exactly where they come from.”

The late Pata Sauni and Sileiloga Vui-Sauni had seven children; Akopo, Sailusi, Talāluma, Mariota, Tinu, Sau and Meaalofa.
