Samoans are a resilient hard working lot

Dear Editor,

Re: Who is more dangerous? Christians or Muslims:

It is great to read views/opinions of Street Talk from various age groups of the Samoan people. It is encouraging that all of them have expressed their true heart of their faith in Almighty God.

They stay strong in the fact that although life is difficult and challenging, most of the Samoan people uphold and stay true to their convictions - their faith in the One and Only True God that we serve.

The missionaries came to Samoa many years ago and brought the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our island of Paradise, and most Samoans still maintain their faith.

Simple Village Life & Man rely on tree of life!

Wonderful stories of determination to ensure sustainability of their families.

Both stories really gladdens my heart and lifts my spirit up when these wonderful people are showing such perseverance. Their attitude of gratitude is one of the keys that will see them through.

The Bible clearly has lots to say about laziness like the lady in the story where she says that people live in poverty because some are lazy: Proverbs 6: 11 “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise; 7..which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8..provideth her meant in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest 9..How long wilt though sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10. Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: ..11..So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and they want as an armed man.”

That beautiful lady quoted exactly the Word of God: Proverbs 10:4 “ He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich”

Perhaps not all poverty is caused by a slack hand, but God’s Word is 100% clear on that. The diligent who makes riches doesn’t mean that they are wealthy, but their lack of poverty comes as a result of earning their living the old fashion way...by working hand or as the Proverb says, by the hand.

A slack hand is one that slacks off at work and may lose their job due to their slackness, or slack because they are not looking for work but sleep or loafing all day long but ultimately, the slack handed one causes and brings poverty to themselves. They are their own worst enemy.

The slackers need to look, study and consider one of the most tiniest and littlest thing upon the earth: - you wouldnt believe what it is - the Ant !! God created this annoying “little thing” and He called it Wise !! Proverbs 30:25 “ the ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer” . God even called them “people”.

Here’s another one: Proverbs 6:6..”Go to the ant, thou sluggard (lazy person), consider her ways, and be wise! they have no guide, overseer or ruler, but they work all day long....

Go and watch a trail of ants and it shows you how hard working and diligent these tiniest little “friends” are. They never sleep. They have their own “kingdom” and create their own strategy of wisdom and diligence.

They can certainly teach humans a thing or two about hard work!

Thank you Samoa Observer for bringing us these inspiring stories.
