Basketball tournament kicks off

The Samoa Basketball Federation started its four-day tournament at Apia Park gym earlier this week. The various categories competing in the tournament include open women and men, Under 17 and 14 boys, girls’ teams from Upolu, Savaii and an open men’s team from American Samoa.

Joshua stops Povetkin in 7th round, keeps heavyweight titles

 Anthony Joshua retained his WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight titles with a seventh-round stoppage of Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium. Joshua, who fought with a suspected broken nose from the second round, sent the Russian to the canvas with a big right midway through the seventh and was unloading a flurry of punches before the referee stepped in to end the fight.

Samoa Football Cup is back

After a seven year hiatus, the Samoa National Football Cup is back, with five teams across 30 clubs competing for the top prize. The five teams are from five geographical zones, four in Upolu and one from Savaii.
