Wednesday was a day to remember for Vaitulia Tafatoa Salua Sa Taupa’ū.

It was the day when she was announced the Dux of Vaigaga Primary School during their prize giving.

The 13-year-old also scooped the top awards for seven subjects in the Year 8 level - English, Mathematics, Science, Samoan Language, Social Science and Visual Arts.

Families and friends were present at the ceremony to celebrate Vaitaulia’s achievements.

“I am so happy with my achievements,” Vaitaulia said.

“It is so unbelievable. I did not expect that I am going to get first place in every subject.

“I want to say thank you to my teachers and also to my parents for supporting me in every way they can so that I can be named the Dux of Vaigaga Primary School.”

Vaitaulia wishes to secure a scholarship to fulfil her dreams of being a lawyer in the future.

Second to Dux was Ateca Natalya Ah Yen, 14 years of age from Lotopa.

She scored first place in Physical Education.
