What drives you? (Part 2)

Think a minute…What drives you? Yesterday we talked about three of the most common motivations that drive and control our lives. Today we will finish with two more.

Many of us are driven by our love of money and the material things we can buy with it. We think it will make us happier, more important, and more secure. But it is a dream that can never come true, because no matter how much we get, we will always want a little more. Our big mistake is that we expect money to do for us what it simply is not made to do:  give happiness that lasts. Wealthy people all over the world are still unhappy with sad, hurting marriages and families, and no true peace of mind. These extremely rich people will tell you that money is simply powerless to buy lasting satisfaction and peace. Remember: “A man without money is poor, but a man who has money alone is the poorest.”

Money cannot make us more important either. No matter how expensive our clothes, car, and house is, we are still the same person. As a wise man says: “Your self-worth and your net worth are not the same. Your value is not determined by your valuables.” It is a clear fact that the most valuable things in life are not things you can get with money.

Others of us are driven by the need for other people’s approval—so we allow the expectations of our family, friends, or others to control our life. One of the best ways to fail and not be happy in life is to always please others. After all, do these other people really know the right purpose and plan for your life? If you keep trying to live their way, you will likely miss the right way for you.

So what is driving you? What do you love most and live for? Is it what you really want in life? As Jesus warned us: “What will you really have when you gain the whole world, but lose your own soul?” Are you sure that what is driving you is not taking you to a dead end? Once and for all, won’t you ask your Maker who loves you and knows you better than anyone to start driving and leading your life? Jesus is the only one who can show you your real purpose for living. With Him in total charge of your heart, character and way of living, your satisfaction is guaranteed. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Just think a minute…
