Work together to keep the peace

Faavesi Patu, 40-years old from Vaiala and Faatoia, believes that working together and maintaining peace within our family should be everyone’s goal.

He believes that we should get back to our roots and embrace our family values.

Faavesi lives with his family and his sisters. His priority are his children.

“I love my family very much that’s why everything I do is for them,” he said.

“We make just enough money for what we need. It covers the school fees and food for everyday life.”

He agrees however that life is tough and money is always an issue.

He said the cost of living is too high for some people and that’s why they keep on complaining.

Fa’avesi believes some of them can help themselves by working the land.

“It’s our own people’s fault, our people should go back to our land and develop plantations instead of depending on money too much.”

Church and village donations should also be lowered, he said.

He believes everyone should prioritise their families.

“There is no place like home and that’s where our focus should be.”
