The Samoa Culinary Association and the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding to solidify their union yesterday.

The Chief Executive Officer of the M.W.C.S.D. Fuimapoao Naea Beth Onesemo-Tuilaepa signed the M.O.U with the President of the Samoa Culinary Association, Joe Lamb.

“We support this partnership and happy to work with Samoa Culinary Association to do what they’re good at in terms of developing our young people,” said Fuimapoao.

“On behalf of the Minister and this Ministry, I’m very happy to have Samoa Culinary Association as a partner.

The excitement was shared by Mr. Lam.

“As the President, I would like to say thank you with great appreciation for the support of the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development as well as the partnership with the Youth Employment Programme through U.N.D.P.

“It’s always a pleasure to meet and come together with groups so we can get to a common goal.  Today is one of those days we’re very happy to be here to sign the papers and handshake on our deal.”

M.W.C.S.D. has approved a grant of funding worth US$10,000.

The funding will go towards enhancing youth employment in tourism and hospitality through the Culinary grassroots traineeships programme for youth.

The Samoa Culinary Association will engage 18 youths in the traineeship program where they will develop their culinary knowledge and skills.
