Traditionally, Easter celebrations typically consist of Lent, a time of abstinence and penance; the Easter vigil, when new believers are baptized; and perhaps the sacrament of confession.

But for young villagers of Gagaifo this year, church-goers thought of trying something new and took to the streets to clean and pick up rubbish as part of their Easter activities and celebrations.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Gagaifo Lefaga elders organized the youth of their congregation early Friday morning and wandered through the village for most of the day.

“For us, instead of staying home and mourning the loss of Jesus Christ, we armed ourselves with trash bags and decided to clean the village in preparation for His resurrection” said Church Elder Manu.

“This is the first time we have done something like this, and we believe it is a good way to show our worship and help others at the same time”

“To me personally, this was a great idea proposed by the youth to make a difference to not only for members of  our church but for the village to show some Christians values about Easter.
