The Samoan Independent Seventh Day Adventist Church (S.I.S.D.A.C.) has launched its Social Welfare Programme and a Bookshop.

At the cost of $100,000, the projects hope to provide more support for families as well as to improve the reading skills of young people.

The Associate Minister of Finance, So’oalo Mene, congratulated the church for the two projects. He acknowledged the initiative by the church, especially in supporting the families who are in need.

The Social Welfare programme will start in the next few weeks.

There are three selected villages with twenty families from each village who are now under survey to confirm that they are qualified for the programme. Church leader, Pastor Willie Papu, said this is just the beginning. “What’s important to me is that it’s starting now, and I thank God for it,” said Pastor Willie.

“We are targeting the villagers, and the selected families will have to be under screening if they meet the criterias of the programme whether they are in the church or not.”

Pastor Willie said their hope is to really share the love of God with people.
