Iconic Town Clock turns red

To mark the 50th anniversary of Special Olympics International, Special Olympics Samoa (S.O.S.) painted the iconic Town Clock in the heart of Apia red. Established in 1968, S.O.S. Board Chairman, Leta’a Maiava Daniel Devoe said this is a milestone achievement for Special Olympics because it recognises its achievements over the past five decades.

Cabinet has approved salary increases for Justices in the Supreme Court, Judges of the District Court and the Land and Titles Court. This was confirmed in a F.K. (Fa’aiuga Kapeneta - Cabinet Decision) (18) 17, which also highlights that Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi’s salary is slashed from $187,500 to $182,070 as recommended by a Tribunal.

Foreign judge application in Court

The Attorney General’s application to the Supreme Court – for an overseas judge to hear an appeal against a District Court decision – is set for next Wednesday. The President of the Land and Titles Court Fepuleai Atilla Ropati was discharged by District Court Judge Alalatoa Rosella Papali’i, after the police charged him with assault, being armed with a dangerous weapon and causing injury, and causing grievous bodily harm.
