"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" - said William Congreve.

That’s what a man from Vaiusu who is fighting for his life at the Moto’otua Hospital found after his enraged wife poured hot water on him while he was sleeping.

The man, whose name is withheld, sustained burns to a large part of his body.

The incident was confirmed by Police Superintendent, Sala’a Sale Sala’a, in response to questions from the Samoa Observer.

He declined to give details as to the extent of the man’s injuries.

However, the Samoa Observer understands from sources close to the family the man was in critical condition.

He was initially admitted into the Intensive Care Unit because of the severity of the burns.

“The hot water was poured on his face and chest which spilled on to his stomach,” said the family member.

The incident occurred at Vaiusu.

The father of three was later transferred to the Medical Unit for further observations.

A criminal complaint has been filed by the man, and the woman has been taken by police for interrogation.

Sala’a declined to comment as to what criminal charges the Police intended to file into this matter.

It is unclear as to what caused the alleged incident as Sala’a also declined to give any further details noting the police investigations is in progress.

Family members of the man are unhappy with the delay of actions by the Police into the matter.
