Police are continuing to investigate the death of an 18-year-old cyclist, who died at Faleasiu-Uta last week when he hit a pedestrian.

According to the Media Officer of the Ministry of Police, Maotaoalii Kaioneta Kitiona, the deceased was travelling at high speed on his bicycle, coming from Faleasiu-uta, when he hit a pedestrian on the road.

The incident happened between 2-3pm last Saturday, while the deceased was on his way to a shop.

He received serious injuries to his head and face, while the pedestrian only received minor injuries on his face.

It was not the first time someone from the boy’s family died in a bicycle accident, as his father also died in a similar accident some years ago.

No charges would be laid until the Police investigation is completed.
