Lupesoliai Parker is back

Lupesoliai Joseph Parker’s third round knockout of American-Mexican heavyweight boxer Alexander Flores last Saturday night in Christchurch, New Zealand got him back into the winner’s circle. Our reporter Soli Wilson talks to members of the public on what they thought of the victory.

In my opinion, Joseph Parker has changed his ways or techniques of fighting. Now I know he is one of Samoa’s sons, who can achieve a world title, if he keeps up his great preparations and make sure his strength is enough. His faith in God plus his preparations and that’s how we can be sure that he will achieve more in his career. For Joseph Parker: Well done! You’ve done your country proud and keep relying on God for blessings to come.

Vaigalepa Palasi Tuiletufuga, 67, Apia.

To me, the fight was really good, there is so much improvement in his fight. What he should do is improve more, and look for a chance to get back into the ring with those who defeated him beforehand. And make his way up to the world title, which I know he is aiming for already. I know people complain about the referee’s calls sometimes but that’s the ref’s job and he is doing it. Otherwise, Joseph Parker did a great job in the ring.

First things first, Joseph Parker has come back again to where he all started from. Despite all the complaints from the people when he lost his two previous fight, he is in it to win again. It was a good game but this is not the end. There is still a lot more to go and I wish to encourage Joseph Parker to try his best and never let the people’s complaints put him down.

Ea Ban, 49, Faleula.

The fight was a 100 per cent to me. He should reach for the championship fight for a world title because we’ve now seen what Parker can do. His strength is back and he’s doing so well now. This is so important to Samoa because Joseph Parker is a son of Samoa and he deserves all of our support because he is representing our country on the world stage.

Joseph Parker is back at it again. He has proven himself that he still got this and he is more than ready for another one. I hope and wish him nothing but the best on his future fights. He is still young and he has so much confidence in what he does. We will be supporting the brother all the way until the end.

Malala Luapo, 20, Aufaga.

All thanks to God for Joseph Parker’s win. This year has finally ended so well for Joseph Parker, after the two consecutive losses before, but now he’s done it again. God deserves all the glory for his strength what Parker has achieved so far. His win is a blessing to our country; he has done Samoa proud and I am sure there will be more moments like this in the future.
