The Police have re-opened their investigation into a defunct company, Pure Pacifika, also known as Local Partners and Associates.

The decision was confirmed by Acting Assistant Police Commissioner, Sala’a Sale Sala’a, during an interview with the Samoa Observer.

“This time it’s on allegations of falsifying government documents,” he said.

“The Police launched their investigation last week."

“This follows an official criminal complaint filed by an Associate Minister with regards to the business licenses which the company used for operation.”

Sala’a said it’s too early to discuss the details of the complaint.

“This is a very sensitive matter and the Police will be exploring all options,” he said.

“We will most likely seek the Attorney General’s expertise and assistance upon completion of the investigation, which I know will take some time.”

The “defunct company” was involved in a nonu juice export business which promoted exports to China.

According to Sala’a, this is not the first time the Police have investigated the said company.

The alleged criminal activity occurred several years back.

Asked about the statute of limitations, Sala’a explained that for this case can still be investigated given that it first started around April 2013.

“For now, I cannot really say anything about it."

“The Police are investigating the case and we will bring in the suspect(s) for questioning.'

“If there was a crime committed here, the Police will follow through with the proper procedure.”

It was not possible to obtain a comment from the officials involved in the company. Phone calls and questions sent to their emails were not responded to at press time.
