Marcia Cruz from California, U.S, has always loved Samoa.

And so she returned to paradise for a couple of days to enjoy the sun, beaches and the beautiful culture this country offers.

“It feels great to be back,” she said.

“It’s great to be back as part of Samoa.”

Marcia first experienced Samoa in 1967. She had lived here for three years.

“We were here because my father was a Peace Corp leader who came to visit Samoa,” she said.

“The island hasn’t changed a bit. We drove around the whole island and there are little changes and it hasn’t changed that much.”

For Marcia, this trip is about rekindling her memories of Samoa and re-acquainting herself with a place she loves.

“We travelled a lot since we were kids and we got that from our parents.”

“But Samoa was the best place among the countries and islands. It’s one of the places where we couldn’t leave for more than a year, it’s one of the places we taped ourselves on and didn’t move for three whole years.”

She is a true blue Samoan despite being from the U.S.

“Our hearts belong to Samoa. This is the place we should be.”

Marcia said while there are a few more tall buildings and tar sealed roads, Samoa has managed to maintain its uniqueness.

“Honestly, it hasn’t changed that much. I mean you may have developed different buildings in the town area but back in the village they’re still the same.”

“The first day we got here we drove around the island. Guess what, it makes me cry. This is the Samoa we remembered, maybe there are little changes but the house back there is just old as it is back then.”

“I could find my own house I could find my own swimming area where we used to enjoy ourselves.  “

“Which is very fascinating, I don’t want them to change I want them to be like it is back in the days.”

Marcia said there is so much people from around the world should come to Samoa to experience.

“There is so much to share and I simply can’t share it all. Words can’t express how life is very simple for us and we are very grateful to become part of  Samoa.”

“I’m thankful to our parents for bringing us here because without the experience here in Samoa, we wouldn’t manage our faith, our family and our lives.”

“We got so many good memories of Samoa. I’m also thankful that without our parents we wouldn’t see the true blessing in it all. Samoa is home.”
