The road to Fagali’i-uta needs to be fixed.

Maiava Vala Ueselani, a businessman who has a store at Fagalii-Uta, told the Village Voice team yesterday that this was a problem people in his area have had to deal with every day.

“It is a struggle not only for delivery trucks to come all the way here because there are so many potholes, but the road is also narrow,” he said.

Maiava added not only was his store being affected in terms of the delivery truck not coming, but also his vehicle tyres that were damaged by the road would cost him a lot to repair.

“In the long run, we would eventually need to spend money in repairing our car tyres because we make many trips to town to get the shopping done if the delivery truck does not come,” said Maiava.

The 60-year-old said their road needed to be fixed because there were many other families in his area who also faced the same situation.

“I feel sorry for other families that live around this area because I understand the situation they are in.

“They don’t take just make one trip as well, they need to pick up the kids from school as well and run errands which is why the road needs to be fixed,” he added.

Maiava said the road was unsafe because there was a ditch right next to the road behind the Fagalii Airport where he lives.
