It’s official. Digicel Samoa is the exclusive Telecommunication partner of the Pacific Games 2019 to be hosted by Samoa next year.

The milestone sponsorship agreement was signed last week, valued at $3million tala.

The sponsorship signing was made by the 2019 Samoa Pacific Games Organising Committee Chairman, Minister Loau Solamalemalo Keneti Sio with Digicel Samoa CEO, Farid Mohammed in Apia.

Digicel will be the official sponsor and exclusive telecommunication partner of the 2019 Pacific Games. Digicel was also the official sponsor of the 2017 Vanuatu Mini Games.

“We applaud the Government of Samoa’s bold commitment in securing another great opportunity for Samoa, to create history in being the first Pacific nation to host the Games twice, in less than 20 years,” said Digicel Samoa C.E.O., Farid Mohammed.

“We look forward to working together with the Government of Samoa through the 2019 Games Organising Committee, the Ministry of Education Sports and Culture, as well as other relevant ministries, in delivering the best Pacific Games next year.

“We have built a partnership combining Pacific excellence and Digicel’s industry-leading 4G+ network. Together, we are able to connect with and inspire Pacific athletes and fans around the region, and we look forward to working with the Games body to build the digital future of the Pacific Games.”

Digicel will provide all telecommunications needs for the Games, including wireless 4G+ superfast data at the Games village and all official games offices and venues.

“Digicel understands and promotes the Pacific values in sport through technology and marketing campaigns that help break down barriers and engage new audiences,” added Farid.

“From a commercial perspective, our official and exclusive telecommunications sponsorship of the Samoa Pacific Games builds on the foundation of a long-term partnership with the Games Council, and demonstrates the long-term strength and appeal of our marketing programs.”

The Pacific Games is the biggest sporting event in the region, with more than 20 countries and over 4000 athletes and officials expected to compete for two weeks in July.
