Bank South Pacific (B.S.P) donated $5,000 to the Samoa Offering Hope (S.O.H) campaign yesterday for victims of the Savalalo Flea Market fire.

The money was presented by the B.S.P Samoa Country Head, Maryanne Lameko-Vaai to the Chairperson of the Samoa Offering Hope Taskforce, Adele Kruse.

Mrs. Lameko-Vaai said B.S.P is very proud to be part of this initiative.

“We are also proud to be part of the efforts the task force have gone through to help our businesses and business owners who were impacted by the flea market fire,” she said.

Ms. Kruse thanked B.S.P, acknowledging their generous donation.

“We are hoping that in these few days that are left that people will share their cup of overflow because we really do need that in order to make a difference to these people that were affected by the fire,” she said.

“So please whatever you have to give we welcome it.”

She said S.O.H is a Charitable Trust.

“This Trust will remain in place for any other extraordinary events that the country might endure,” she said.

“This is the first time that we have started this and of course many people don’t understand or aren't familiar with Samoa Offering Hope.

“We are hoping that after this particular event that we are collecting monies for, Samoa will become more familiar with Samoa Offering Hope.

“We have established this particular trust to help those that are in need and many people, when things happen, they want to contribute but they want to make sure that their donations are safe.

“The Samoa Offering Hope Trust is definitely a safe conduit and some of us have thought seriously about taking on this particular way of doing what we all need to do in helping each other and we hope that the people of Samoa will recognize that it is definitely a safe conduit for all of their offerings and the monies will get to those that need it.

“The 26th of Feb is our last day and if we do the math there are more than two hundred families that were affected by the Flea Market fire and $5 or $10 tala from our own people, if we put that together we can make a huge difference.”
