The defending champions of the Vailima Marist Sevens, Marist St. Joseph’s are through to the cup quarterfinals of the Vailima Marist Sevens.

The tournament’s host ended day one last with an impressive record, defending their try line with all their might. Not a single try was conceded.

In their opening game, Marist St. Joseph’s thrashed a hapless Lefaga team, 50-0, to send an early warning to their opponents.

This was followed by a 27-0 demolition job against Taga from Savaii.

In their final game, the men in green were made to work hard for a 21-3 win over Saleimoa.

Marist’s impressive form has set them up for a quarterfinal clash with Tepatasi who won two and drew against SCOPA in their final game.

The other cup quarterfinals will see Vailele take on Vaiala in the battle of Vaimauga.

Apia will host the high-flying Auckland Marist St. Joseph’s in the third quarterfinal while Moata’a and Laulii will slug it out for the final spot in the semis.

Today’s games kick off at 11am.
