Money that’s coming into Samoa

Dear Editor

Re: Public share views on remittances

I have said this many times, the Prime Minister does not have an economic plan for Samoa, he is lucky that Samoans send home half a billion tala every year to sustain the economy.

Without this money there would be no money for businesses to operate and hire workers.

This money goes straight into the economy and is being used to finance all the business transactions for the people.

Our government has not generated any kind of revenue for the people short of wages for the government employees. The fact is our exports only are 4% of the GDP according to the ADB so there is no money being generated from Samoan industry or Agriculture or tourism or other business ventures.

These remittances are what people are spending and businesses rely on for income. This Prime Minister is speaking with no idea how to bring money in to Samoa except through loans.
