Good Friday last week was not such a great day for a family at Falelauniu.

For Mary Faleula, it is a day she will remember for waking up to grieve the death of her husband. He was found dead on the side of the road during the early hours of the morning.

Siona is the alleged victim of a drinking session among friends on Thursday night, which ended tragically when the 36-year-old was bashed and left to die.

It was not possible to get a comment from the Police yesterday.

But Siona’s wife, Mary, fought back tears when she told the Samoa Observer the grim details of what happened.

“He was drinking with some other men,” she said. “They were supposed to be his friends.”

According to the wife, when they found Siona, his face was badly bruised and bashed.

“He was wounded and basically bashed to death on Thursday night,” she said.

She recalled seeing multiple wounds to his head.

“He was basically beaten and left on the roadside to die,” she said.

“His injuries were sickening.

“I find it really hard to accept that there are people out there willing to do this to my husband...for no reason.”

Mary said the last time she saw her husband was when he left for work on Thursday morning.

“I never thought anything like this could happen,” she said.

“When he left for work, I thought it was just another day. He didn’t return home from work and I’m sad I never had the chance to say goodbye.”

Mary said the friends he was drinking with have approached her.

“His friends and their family came and they were begging for forgiveness,” she said.

“Yet something in me didn't want to forgive.

“It’s really hard to deal with the pain now...we are praying for peace. I keep thinking this is a nightmare that it will be over soon but it’s not. I’ve lost my husband.”

She said the Police are investigating.
