The arrival in the country of a mobility van donated by the Altus Resource Trust of New Zealand has again created an enabling means by which Samoa Victim Support Group (S.V.S.G) can assist the members of our community with disabilities, in particular, those with spinal cord injuries.

S.V.S.G’s welfare assistance has extended to include the basic mobility and caregiving support for people with disabilities.  

And over the years, S.V.S.G has been partnering with the Altus Resource Trust New Zealand, in not only providing mobile devices and equipment, training the caregivers and S.V.S.G volunteers on repairing and maintaining the equipment, but also in mobilizing disability workshop to support those with spinal cord injuries.

The mobility van will greatly assist with emergency support required by members of the community with disabilities, especially the most vulnerable and the underprivileged.  

S.V.S.G’s Disability Support Officer, Epenesa Pouesi-Young is coordinating support for people with disabilities and with spinal injuries.

In addition to the vehicle, there were also equipment such as wheelchairs, standing frames and others, that will assist our people in need.

S.V.S.G President Siliniu Lina Chang is a grateful leader, acknowledging the support from the Team at the Altus Resource Trust in New Zealand for remaining true to our partnership.
