Dave Rennie, who coached the Hamilton-based Chiefs to the Super Rugby title in 2012 and 2013, says he will leave the club after the 2017 season to coach Scotland's Glasgow Warriors.

Rennie indicated after the recent reappointment of New Zealand coach Steve Hansen through the 2019 Rugby World Cup that he would seek a coaching appointment overseas. He will take over at Glasgow from Gregor Townsend who will become Scotland national coach in 2017.

Rennie said "this chance with Scottish Rugby fitted the bill perfectly. As a coach, you want to test yourself in new environments with new challenges."

Rennie has also coached Wellington and Manawatu provinces and the New Zealand under-20 team.
