Life can be just a roller coaster ride, but we can change this if we work hard.

Onosa’i Talato, a father of nine, believes that we as humans are created to work and not waste our valuable time.

“Life is very simple but it will only get complicated if we do not work. One thing for sure we were created to work hard. If we are going to be lazy, then we will starve,” he said.

Talking to the Village Voice, Mr. Talato stated that he sells coconut plants for a living to help him and his family.

“I receive about $200 every week from selling my coconut plants. With this money, I send my nine children to school and also put food on the table,” he said.

Mr. Talato added selling coconut plants had been such a great help too because he makes good money from it.

The 40-year-old said there were 11 of them in his family and the money he makes from selling coconut plants is more than enough for him.

Mr. Talato also said he does not need to work in any company or business for him to earn a living because he can just live off selling his plants.

“I have worked in a company before and I earned money from it but is not the same as what I am earning now.

“I realized that I could earn so much more if I worked on my own land,” said Mr. Talato.

He emphasized the benefits of working alone and running his own little business.

“I feel very relaxed, not worrying about showing up for work on time or getting scared if I mess up at work. I get to be a worker and be my own boss,” he said.

Mr. Talato is advising all the strong, young fathers in Samoa to always work hard for everything that they do for it is what they are called to do.
