Water is essential for everyday needs especially for drinking.
However a father of seven from Leusoalii shared his frustration about water scarcity in his area.
Tai Ga’i said this was the biggest problem that his family faces.
“The water supply here is very poor. There are times when the tap water is running and sometimes it does not,” he said.
Mr. Ga’i said he would buy a water tank help his family overcome challenges associated with water but money was everything.
Talking to the Village Voice team, Mr. Ga’i shared life had been very hard for him and his family.
He said his son was the only employed person in his family and whatever he earned was for his family.
The 43-year-old said his family relied mainly on his plantation for survival.
He also said that there were so many things that were needed to be done but they did not have enough money.
“It is really tough to get things done. We have so many obligations, such as family commitments and church stuff,” he said.
Mr. Ga’i also emphasized on how difficult it was to relocate to another place.
“The bus does not come all the way here; it stops at the main road. There is nothing wrong with the road so I don’t understand why they can’t come. I just feel sorry for the kids because the sun is very hot around the time when school finishes,” he said.
Mr. Ga’i believes one of the reasons they are struggling is because life is expensive and families such as his are the ones affected.
