Make use of your youth

Young people are the backbone in the development of families.

With that notion, it’s important for the youth of today to look for jobs to make use of their time. Whatever job they can find.

Most importantly, they need to put what they have learnt from school to practice.

This is Kilisi Savaiinaea, 24, of Fasito’o-uta’s belief.

He said that his life right now is basically about serving his parents; taking care of them and working towards a better future.

“I see a lot of our youth just roaming around and wasting their strength on useless things,” he said.

“I believe that the responsibility of any youth is to look for jobs so they can work to make money that can help out their parents and their families.”

He added that he thinks a lot of the youth these days are just too lazy to find jobs after school.

Kilisi works at a mechanic workshop at Fasito’o-uta and his weekly pay goes to his parents to help out with what they need for the family.

“We all know that the cost of living is not cheap anymore. So this is the best time for the youth to put their skills and strength into good use to help out their parents.

“It is important to work now because our parents are not always going to be with us forever, and it’s also good to work because once we have families and children of our own, we already know how to look after our own families and teaching them how to work for another better future.

Kilisi hopes that one day he will have a family of his own just like everyone else but for the meantime, his focus and main priority is looking after his family and serving his parents as long as he can.

“My dream is that one day I will have a family of my own and I will teach them what I know, but for now, I want to look after my parents and use the energy I have to get them whatever they need.”
