Not happy about table tennis tournament

Dear Editor,

I am very disappointed with the way the Table Tennis Federation of Samoa under S.A.S.N.O.C runs the tournament during the Olympic Games Days on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th of June last week.

I believe you can do better President Fusi Coffin of the Table Tennis Federation of Samoa.

I mean no specific certificates/prizes or trophies for the table tennis tournament or at least for the finalists? This tournament or programme was planned for months and run for two days?

Parents and schools are concerned because of the poor organizing and not doing things in an official way.

Instead of making specific certificates for the table tennis you rely on the Athletic certificates of participation that was given to the students that was participating in the athletic games.

How incompetent was that? No wonder why other companies don’t want to offer sponsorships for table tennis. Even the equipment used were poor quality (racks) and not enough. Many kids was given the consent by their parents to attend the table tennis games did not get the opportunity to play table tennis when they were already registered in that morning at Pesega.

Marist Brother’s Primary School boys Marty Aumua won the championship (1st place) and Roger Tualaulelei came 3rd place in the table tennis tournament that involves year 12 students from Leififi College. None of these boys got any certificates or prizes to commemorate the celebration of Olympic Games in Table Tennis.

I’m sure the International Table Tennis Federation (I.T.T.F) would love to fund these programmes.
