The cost of living doesn’t feel expensive if you’re someone who works hard for what you want. That is something believed by Faasauala Mosi of Faleula.

The 51 year old is a farmer; one that mostly focuses on growing vegetables such as cabbages, cucumbers and a whole variety of other vegetables. 

“My work is selling my vegetables at my own stall based in front of our home,” he tells Village Voice.

“This is my work to finacially support my family.

“It was something that my wife and I started so we could make our own living and now all of our families are doing it because they know that it’s useful and it’s what most people in Samoa need to eat in order stay healthy.”

That is not the only source of income for Faasauala though.

He has 11 children and one of his daughters’ works and so as her husband and that helps him a lot as well.

 “I have three other children overseas but you know my daughter who works here is the one that I mostly depend on when I need something urgently. 

“She helps a lot because to her, it is her duty as my daughter to do so and that’s okay with me.

 “But I like doing things on my own; I have two hands that still work so best to use them while I can.

 “And I’m making money out of it right? So I guess that’s why to me, I don’t consider the cost of living to be that expensive.

 “If you sit around and wait for things to just happen with a flick of a finger, then this is not a world for you.

 “Don’t be lazy. We all have to work in this life to make our own lives easier, so don’t expect others to make things happen for you.”
