The life and contribution of the late Sau Justina Sau to Samoa was honoured recently at a directors’ luncheon at the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel.

A minute of silence was observed by chairpersons, members of government boards and directors—who stood up to pay their respects—to one of Samoa’s top government bureaucrats.

“On behalf of the Board of Institute of Directors, I would like to acknowledge the valuable contribution made by the board’s recently deceased member, Sau Justina Sau, to the development of the institute and its professional programmes,” said Muaausa Joseph Walter, board chair of the Institute of Directors.

“She has served as a member of the board for eight years, also 13 years ago as Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the state monitoring division of the Ministry of Finance. She assisted in the establishment of this institution.”

Sau was just reappointed last year to another three-year term as Chief Executive Officer of Unit Trust of Samoa prior to her passing last month.

The luncheon also saw the presentation of certificates to nine of 15 directors, who successfully completed a five-day professional training programme for directors.
